Farid Khan said that Pakistan stock market index could be included in the Morgan Stanley Frontier Index, which would help in reviving the confidence of the investors.
He said that inflation has mellowed down and a further cut in the interest rate by the Central Bank was expected.
Pakistan seeks world aid for IDPs'
UNITED NATIONS: President Asif Ali Zardari appealed for global aid for the hundreds of thousands of civilians displaced by the fighting against Taliban militants.
‘We're appealing to the world, myself and the UN secretary general to draw attention on the human catastrophe that is taking place,’ he told reporters after conferring with UN chief Ban Ki-moon.
‘They civilians are losing their crops, they're losing their earnings, their livelihood and their homes, so we want the world to help us,’ he added.
‘The secretary general has been kind enough to accept our appeal to him and he is going to appeal to the world with us jointly to help Pakistan.’
Ban meanwhile told reporters that in his meeting with Zardari, he expressed his ‘deep concern’ about the humanitarian situation in northwestern Pakistan where commandos are stepping up a punishing offensive against militants that has now displaced more than half a million people.
Tens of thousands of terrified civilians have been streaming out of three battle-torn northwest districts each day, with the UN refugee agency saying that 501,496 stranded people had registered with authorities since May 2.
‘I expressed my deep concern and I expect President Zardari to take all necessary care to protect the civilian population,’ the UN boss said.
‘The UN is ready to stand by to provide the necessary humanitarian assistance.’ Ban said he asked the Pakistani leader ‘to facilitate the smooth delivery of humanitarian assistance and the protection of humanitarian workers,’ adding ‘it is a very serious situation.’
A UN statement said Ban ‘supported the fight against extremism and expressed confidence and trust in the leadership of President Zardari.’

ICC moving Champions Trophy out of Pakistan
The International Cricket Council (ICC) stripped Pakistan of hosting this year's Champions Trophy on Sunday after several teams voiced security concerns about playing in the country.
The tournament had been postponed from 2008 to September/October this year after five of the eight teams involved in the premier one-day event had said they would not send a team due to security worries.
"The ICC Board accepted that, with several members expressing reservations about touring Pakistan, it would be prudent to relocate the event .... from that country," the ICC said in a statement after its two-day board meeting in Perth.
"In view of the challenges facing the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) which are out of its control, the Board agreed that, irrespective of the location of the event, Pakistan would retain the revenue due for hosting the tournament."
The board intends to find a new location before its next scheduled meeting in April and plan to form a task team to visit Pakistan and find ways to work with the PCB to ensure more international cricket is played in the country.
ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat sympathised with Pakistan but cited the need for certainty in planning the event.
"It is unfortunate the ICC Champions Trophy will not take place in Pakistan due to circumstances completely beyond the control of the PCB," he added.
"However, the Board has accepted the need for certainty in planning for and delivering a world-class event and will now assess where the event should be held."
GREAT SHAME
Pakistan's sports minister Aftab Shah Jillani said the decision to relocate the tournament was disappointing.
"It is a great shame because we have been working hard for this tournament and we were confident we could provide the best security for the Champions Trophy," Jillani told Reuters.
Pakistan cricket has been badly hit by the refusal of teams to travel there following several suicide bombings last year.
They did not play a single test in 2008 as a result.
Security concerns in Pakistan and strained political ties with India following militant attacks in Mumbai in November have also raised concerns over the 2011 one-day World Cup, due to be jointly staged alongside Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Pakistan legally challenges ICC on World Cup move
LAHORE: Pakistan has registered a case at the International Court of Arbitration for Sport against the International Cricket Council (ICC) for moving Pakistan’s World Cup matches.
This has been told by chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ijaz Butt while addressing at a press conference here on Saturday.
He said that Pakistan has served legal notice to the ICC in this regard and the PCB wants to obtain stay order against the ICC decision.
Pakistan has challenged the ICC's decision to move the World Cup and "in this regard a notice has been sent through our lawyer Mark Gay to the ICC president David Morgan," Butt told reporters.
"The PCB believes that the manner in which the decision was taken, with no security assessment of Pakistan or any other host country and without the issue being on the agenda of the meeting, it was legally flawed," the PCB chairman said.
The ICC last month stripped Pakistan of 14 World Cup matches, including a semi-final, citing the "uncertain security situation" in the country.
Co-hosts India will now host 29 matches inclusive of a semi-final and the final, while Sri Lanka will host 12 matches with one-semi-final and Bangladesh eighth matches and the opening ceremony.
"There was no prior notice that the Cup matches will be moved and more could have been done in an indiscriminate manner before the decision was taken," said Butt.
"We believe that more could and should have been done to review the actual situation to deal with the matter on a non-discriminatory basis."
Butt said the issue had been referred to the president of the ICC's dispute resolution committee.
"He can either refer the matter to the dispute resolution committee which is made up of ICC Officials or to independent arbitration before the Court of Arbitration for Sport," Butt said.
"The PCB prefer impartial arbitration, in the interest of justice, equity and fair play. The PCB will push for this matter to be expedited so the PCB's status can be restored as soon as possible."

Delhi Daredevils bowlers pulled it back: Gambhir
DURBAN: Having registered a comprehensive nine-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils stand-in skipper Gautam Gambhir said he wanted to bat through the innings and make sure that his team registered a win against the Brendon McCullum-led side.On his batting form: I think it was important for us to win this game. To be honest I was not hitting the ball well. So it was important for me to grind my way through. I have not many runs under my belt so it was important for me to hang in there and finish it off. We were not chasing a big total and the target was 150 odd runs so we decided that one person has to bat till the end. We thought if one of us could bat till the end then we would end up winning the game.On the pitch at Durban: If you go through the history of Durban then you would find that the ball swings a bit under light. So I think that 150-160 was a good total. I think our bowlers bowled well to restrict them to such a score. At one time they were looking set for 180 but I think our bowlers pulled it back.On his role as a senior batsman: I think being a senior batsman there is a sense of responsibility. Viru's (Virender Sehwag) absence is a challenge for us. It was important for me to hang in there and finish the game. So, I think it is a blessing in disguise as well. If he were there I would go overboard and go after the bowling because he is the senior partner. I wanted to take the responsibility today and finish the game.On Glenn McGrath: He is match-fit but our combination does not permit us to field him in the playing XI. As we know Dirk Nannes has been bowling very well throughout the tournament. We needed pace and he is someone who is quick. But McGrath is fully match-fit.On his batting form: I always knew that there are 14 matches for a team. Specially coming from New Zealand where we played a lot of Test cricket. So, coming directly from different conditions it is always difficult to adapt to the local conditions. But I would like to continue in the same way I played today in the rest of the tournament. On complacency: We are at the top of the table and we can't be complacent. Our focus is to qualify for the semifinals. On strategy against KKR: They had nothing to lose and we had everything to lose. They have got some good players in the side and we had to play them well. We will be playing against them twice and it is important for us to win both matches. On Proteas performing well in IPL: You must remember that last year when IPL was in India a lot of Indians players had performed well. The Indian cricketers were used to the conditions and pace. If you see the entire tournament the South African are playing really well. AB de Villiers is doing well for us. And he and Dilshan are key players for us to reach the semi-finals.On keeping an eye on points chart: Yes, we are keeping a tap at the points table. With the standings changing every day we have to keep an eye on the points. On missing Sehwag: I have always felt comfortable batting with Viru. He is the most dangerous batsman. If he comes back into the side then we would be a very strong batting side.
Each one of us is responsible: Buchanan
DURBAN:Kolkata Knight Riders coach John Buchanan said his team needs to focus n a couple of issues and everyone needs to be blamed and not just the captain.
On future plans: There are issues which need to be discussed. We need to do consistently well as a team. We didn’t have wins and we need to win few matches. We need to remove the negatives in our way. As Brendon had pointed out some of our batsmen have been doing well. Morne van Wyk has been very good. And we saw Moses Henrique coming good tonight. Those are good signs and we also have David Hussey joining us soon.
On analysis of his side’s performance:If you look at our bowlers, I think Ishant has bowled well. He has been unfortunate. He probably has his worst over of the tournament in the second over. Ajit Agarkar has comeback well. Our fielding has been good but there have been occasions when we have let our team down by dropping few catches. But nonetheless if you look at the side there has been a lot of improvement and I think we have done some good things. Our approach will be focussed on putting ourselves back on the track. We have played nine games in the tournament with just one win but we have had some close matches. But everyone has stayed together and that is very important. But as Brendon has said, we have got few more matches and we must play well.
On Brendon McCullum:I think one must also feel that Brendon came into the tournament as captain under fire from everyone because we made some changes. So one should not blame only the captain. I think cricket is a team game and each one of us is responsible for our performance. Traditional sense says that the captain is responsible but, in fact, everyone is.
On performance of the South Africans: Obviously, a few have played well at different times. If you notice that there have been some Australians who have done well. There have been few Englishmen at different stages and Indians too have performed very well. I don’t think that South Africans have dominated the tournament. As I said, there have been a number of people who have done it .
On brilliant individuals failing as a team: We had a discussion about it. We are all aware about our respective successful careers. It has been pretty hard for all of us. I know that we are going to get out of this. I am not sure whether it will be this time or next year. I do know that we are going to come out of this. All we can do is try and play well. But in terms of the things, we need to improve, we will focus on one or two things rather than a range of issues. That will take time.
On things to work on: Most teams with five or four wins are experiencing the same thing which we are going through. Our objective is not to get inundated by the negatives. We have to just deal with a couple of things

Mumbai Indians plan to complete Unfinished Business
JOHANNESBURG: Last season, Mumbai Indians were one of the teams who really did not live up to expectations. Skipper Sachin Tendulkar’s absence owing to injury, Harbhajan Singh’s ban and a general listlessness ensured that Mumbai Indians were never really in the reckoning in the DLF Indian Premier League. And eventually, their luck ran out. It was almost as if Mumbai Indians quit the competition abruptly, leaving some unfinished business for the current season. So at the start of the campaign in 2009, Mumbai Indians coaching staff decided that the theme for this season would be `unfinished business'. The theme has been ingrained into the team’s psyche. It is very clear that Shaun Pollock and Jonty Rhodes’ presence in the support staff has obviously made a major impact in the way the team is handled. It was Pollock who came up with the team theme in conjunction with Tendulkar and senior players. He is not cast in the role of a traditional Head Coach, but the designation given to him is a more generic Chief Mentor.“The younger players in the team have grown up looking at him play. It shows that if you have somebody with stature, it works. It doesn't matter what is the title, you can call him anything,” says team manager Shishir Hattangadi. Pollock’s role is to look at the overall working of the team but primarily focus on the bowling department. Pollock has spent time working with the likes of Dilhara Fernando, who looked like buckling under pressure last season. Pollock also keeps the team motivated by showing different videos at team meetings. The Battle at Kruger on how a buffalo escapes the clutches of a tiger and a crocodile in the Kruger National Park was the first of many videos shown to the team. There was also a special screening of a video on Oscar Pistorious, the South African athlete who has had both his legs amputated and runs on blades. Then there is a set of videos which feature candid moments designed to make people laugh at people caught on camera unwittingly. These are known to be really funny and have had a positive impact on the team's functioning. These are screened at team meetings and have the entire team in splits. This is apart from the laughter provided by jokes narrated by Harbhajan Singh.Pollock is considered to be the brain behind these ideas. And it has gone down well with the rest of the squad. Rhodes, on the contrary, handles a set of players at a time and takes them to the main ground and trains them in fielding. His role is also that of a mentor, with focus on fielding. Still fit enough to play, Rhodes classes are a reflection on why the youngsters have a long way to go to reach his level. At the end of a training session, Rhodes takes the wicket-keepers aside and it is their turn to be put through the wringer. “Jonty is a specialist and is really best at what he does. To have him involved has been a great help,” says Pollock. The nets, which are usually outside the main ground, are an example of how Tendulkar is playing multiple roles. If it is Durban and an optional session day, Tendulkar is present training at the nets. Or if it is a pre-match day, like Tuesday, Tendulkar's presence is a master class for the younger batsmen. In East London, for example, Jude Singh, sought the master out for a few lessons especially with his backlift. Saurabh Tiwary wants to talk to him. Tendulkar spent close to 15 minutes talking to young Tiwary, who wants to ask Sachin about batting in South Africa. Then as the team moved to Centurion, Tendulkar was very much the focus.Tendulkar is also the de facto batting mentor in the team. He was the first at the nets and then trained furiously with the bowling machine. He batted for about 25 minutes before keeping an eye on the rest of the squad. He watches every batsman closely. Jean Paul Duminy listens wide-eyed as Tendulkar speaks.Even some like Bangladesh captain Mohammed Ashraful have grown up idolising the master. He is next in line, waiting to learn more about his batting from Sachin. But the focus so far has been players who are first choices for the playing XI and will then move to the reserve bench. It is very clear Mumbai Indians are functioning better than last season because of the involvement of specialists in each of the three departments. “It is about utilising the expertise we have in our areas. I look at the bowlers, you have Jonty. For batting you cannot go beyond the class and experience of Sachin and also Sanath,'” says Pollock. And then to round off the staff, former India batsman Pravin Amre works with the young domestic players. Amre, who is called assistant coach, is considered the bridge between the Indian players and Pollock and Rhodes. Mumbai Indians appear to have a clear plan for the season so that unfinished business can be tackled

Squad : Pakistan recall Shoaib Akhtar : ODI series vs Australia
Pakistan have India as arch rivals in cricket, but according to Shoaib Akhtar (who has many friends in Mumbai) :- beating Australia brings the best pleasure!Australia refused to tour Pakistan some 6 months ago but now, a Pakistan vs Australia ODI series in Dubai & Abu Dhabi is organised by PCB and it's the perfect time for Rawalpindi express to make a comeback. Pakistan are set to tour Australia by the year end, and hence, this is the perfect time for Shoaib Akhtar to regain his fastest self to help his team compete against world champions!Another aspect making it perfect for Shoaib Akhtar to make a comeback into Pakistan cricket team after 8 months is his friend, his captain Younus Khan. Younus has taken over from Shoaib Mallik and will provide all the support former world's fastest bowler will require to win back the cricketing fans.Salman Butt, Misbah-ul-Haq and Shoaib Mallik will act as the pillar of Pakistani batting against Australia in this 5 ODI & a T20 game while likes of Umar Gul, Sohail Tanvir and Rao Iftikkhar Anjum will take up the support part as fast bowlers.Shaid Afridi retains his place as spinner, although he has failed to complile a respectable batting score in last couple of years. Saeed Ajmal, the experienced left arm spinner, is the second twicker in Pakistan squad along with Fawad Alam who is a spinning all rounder and Yasir Arafat = the medium pacer all rounder!Nasir Jamshed : a left handed batsman from Lahore also makes the cut for australian series. 19 year old has already played 3 years of first class cricket in Pakistan but last year, he scored heavily to impress selectors. Jamshed has also played 9 one day internationals for Pakistan, scoring 343 runs at an average of exactly 49/innings and a fine strike-rate of 103.62!Ahmad Shehzad : is second rookie in the squad. Pakistan selectors love throwing VERY YOUNG boys into International level and Ahmad Shehzad was just 17 years and 130 days old on his national call up. Sehzad has played 13 first class game, scoring steadily at an average of over 40/innings.Pakistan Squad for Australia ODIs in Abu Dhabi & Dubai, 2009 :-Younus Khan (captain), Salman Butt, Nasir Jamshed, Misbah-ul-Haq (vice-captain), Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal (wicketkeeper), Shoaib Akhtar, Umar Gul, Iftikhar Anjum, Sohail Tanvir, Yasir Arafat, Fawad Alam, Ahmad Shahzad and Saeed Ajmal.
Squad : Australia recall Andrew Symonds & Brett Lee
In his early days, Andrew Symonds was just a belligerent hitter of cricket ball, suited of one day format. but as days went by, Andrew grew up into one of the finest fielders and useful off-spinner besides being extremely dangerous number 5 batsman. he also proved himself as a test cricketer in his glory days. Then, world saw Symonds another aspect = alcohol trouble! Slowly, he became controversy's favorite child, losing his place in Australian team. Come April 22, Andrew Symonds returns to Aussie cricket team with the ODI series against Pakistan in Dubai and Abu Dhabi from 22nd April 2009. Can Symonds make a successful return? only time will tell. Also making a comeback is Brett Lee. Once the fastest bowler in the world, Lee lost his place due to bad form and then went for a injury surgery. With Ashes series coming in 3 months time, Aussie selectors will be analyzing their bench strength during this ODI series versus Pakistan and Brett Lee is their biggest hope!3rd big name to make a comeback is Shane Watson. All rounder has had a injury prone career but he has performed everytime he plays. He can open the innings, he bowls medium pace tightly and fields well too. Watson will be captained by Michael Clarke who himself isn't in great batting form.Callum Ferguson won all hearts in South Africa, stabilizing the middle order and playing well with tailenders. This will be Ferguson's first trip to sub-continent and hence, it will be interesting to see how he counters spinners in favorable conditions.Brad Haddin, the wicket keeper, has been named as the vice captain of this 14 member squad while Ben Laughlin, the medium pacer, retains his place along with Brett Geeves and James Hopes.Shaun Marsh also makes a comeback, after missing 4 months of cricket due to injury.Australia squad vs Pakistan : ODI series in Middle East :-Michael Clarke (c), Brad Haddin (vc), Nathan Bracken, Callum Ferguson, Brett Geeves, Nathan Hauritz, Ben Hilfenhaus, James Hopes, David Hussey, Ben Laughlin, Brett Lee, Shaun Marsh, Andrew Symonds, Shane Watson.

1st ODI : Afridi & Ajmal undo Aussies : Pakistan lead 1-0.
19 June, 2001 : Aussies went down fighting in reply to Pakistan's 291 at Trent Bridge, in a Natwest series one day match. That day, Waqar Younis captured 6 wickets in his 8 overs, giving away 59 runs which, until today, stood as the best bowling performance by a Pakistan bowler against Australia.22 April, 2009, today : Shahid Afridi snatched 6 wickets for just 38 runs to beat Waqar's record. Afridi bowled the perfect mix of leg-spinners & googlies that none of Australian batsman could handle with authority. 3 bowled, one caught by keeper, one at slip and Brad Haddin lofted it to short cover.. the first one. after playing several good shots against medium pacers.Saeed Ajmal tightened things up from other end, bowled his 10 overs for just 19 runs to go with 2 wickets. Ajmal, a rookie offspinner at International level but highly experienced in domestic circuit, justified his coach's strategy to spin off Aussies. Intikhab Alam, who interestingly was also the coach of Pakistan when they won cricket World cup in 1992, had anticipated Australians will fail against spinner in this 5 ODI series 'Chapal Cup' in Middle East. From 95/1, Australia slipped to 122/9 in just over 10 overs! James hopes called for batting powerplay, constructed a 45 run partnership with last batsman Ben Hilfenhaus to give Aussie bowlers something to bowl at. Under lights, Stuart Clark, Ben Hilfenhaus and Nathan Bracken did swing the ball but not enough.Mini Scorecard : Aus v Pak : 1st ODI, Dubai.Australia (elected to bat) = 168/10 in 38.5 oversB Haddin 40, S Watson 40, J Hopes 43*, S Marsh 16,Shahid Afridi 10-0-39-6 & Saeed Ajmal 10-1-19-2.Pakistan 171 for 6 wickets in 44.1 overs.K Akmal 48, Misbah-ul-Haq 30*, S Afridi 24.Full Scorecard : Aus v Pak : 1st ODI, 22 Apr 09..Dubai = 172nd ODI Venue of International cricket. Today was the first cricket match here in Dubai Sports City stadium, made by Abdur Rehman Bukhatir which indeed looks in spectacular. Not much chance of rain in Dubai anyway, but the extra large stand shades ensured people don't feel too much of sun in first innings and guess what? when night set in, everyone noticed there were no floodlights! instead, multiple lights sources (capable of over 3000 lux) are fitted into stand shades. Generally, cricket stadiums have 4 large towers of floodlights but Dubai stadium has a new innovation installed in itself!7th lowest total ever by Australia against Pakistan. Australia's smallest score against Pakistan in one day internationals is 120 which they made at Hobart in January 1997.. interestingly, none of Aussie batters made a duck today!
2nd ODI : Disciplined Aussies level series : 3 games to go.
When we talk discipline in cricket, what do we actually mean? one of aspect to judge discipline is number of extras conceded.Today, Australians were disciplined. Giving away only 3 extras (2 legbye & 1 'tight' no-ball) which now makes them only the 24th team ever to pick up all 10 wickets while giving away the least number of extras!Considering this was 5692nd innings off 2846 ODIs played till date, it was a remarkable bowling performance by Aussie side today in this second one day international of Chapal Cup 5 ODI series against Pakistan. Under pressure of play opposition spinners well, Australian side knew first they had to restrict other side for the smallest possible total. therefore, all Kangaroo bowlers put their head down to work today in association with some very inspirational fielding by one and all.Dubai pitch was slow the other day for first onedayer, and it got even more slower today if anything. Short pitched deliveries is another thing Aussie bowlers avoided today which Pakistani bowlers didn't and paid the price.Shahid Afridi, one of most unpredictable/impatient batters world cricket has ever seen, batted with predictability & patience today to make 41 off 40 balls after a slow 112 ball 57 from Salman Butt. Afridi's innings, coupled with Shoaib Akhtar's 14 ball 25 propelled Pakistan past 200 mark otherwise they would have scored even less.James Hopes + Shane Watson put on 77 for second wicket, providing solid foundation to Aussie chase of 208. Although Watson was foxed by a Saeed Ajmal flotter, Hopes continued his good form upto personal score of 48. Man of the Match Andrew Symonds stabilized the middle order with his 58 and captain Michael Clarke saw his team home with an unbeaten 39.Mini Scorecard : Pakistan vs Australia : 2nd ODI, Dubai.Pakistan 207 for 10 wickets in 46.2 oversS Butt 57, S Afridi 41, Younis Khan 28.Australia 208 for 4 wickets in 45.1 oversA Symonds 58, James Hopes 48, M Clarke 39*Full Scorecard : Pak v Aus : 2nd ODI, Dubai : 24 April 2009.Run out confusion happened when both Salman Butt and Shahzad Ahmed ran to the same non-striking end. Shahzad reached the crease fist but umpires (Billy Bowden & Asad Rauf) declared Salman Butt in & Sahzad Ahmed out! This was incorrect from previous ICC rule where the batsman who comes in first into his crease was deemed not out.. as per new rule, if both batters reach same end while stumps are broken at other end, the batsman running to his partner's end is safe while his partner goes out, if he left his crease even for an inch!First win for Australia against Pakistan in UAE. Previous 4 Aus v Pak ODIs in Middle East (all at Sharjah) has brought only losses for team from down under!Shahzad Ahmed made his debut for Pakistan, becoming 172nd player to represent Pakistan in One day international cricket. Although, Shahzad, an opener, lasted for only 7 balls, scoring only 4 (one scoring shot!).
3rd ODI : Carelessness costs Pakistan : Aussies lead 2-1.
In cricket, how do you recover after losing 2 wickets of successive balls not once not twice but thrice? Most often, you won't. and neither did Pakistan team today even though they had only 199 as victory target.95 run opening partnership between Salman Butt and 17 year old Shehzad Ahmed, Pakistan had a dream start at a run-rate well over asking rate. Salman Butt was caught at slip off a spinning delivery from Nathan Hauritz while Ahmed, playing only his second game, was bowled by Michael Clarke on 40 after playing some promising shots.Captain Younis Khan, vetern Misbah-ul-Haq and Shahid Afridi followed soon off careless shots as Pakistan fell from 95/0 to 123/5 inside 7 overs! Shoaib Mallik tried forming partnership with wicket keeper Kamran Akmal, then with Yasir Arafat, then tried Sohail Tanvir but no one stuck around with him long enough. Michael Clarke picked up 3 for 15 runs in his 6 overs while Andrew Symonds bowled 10 economical overs from other end to build pressure on home team. Nathan Hauritz, playing as main spinner of Aussie side, made his mark with figures of 10-3-25-2 which included prized wickets of opener Salman Butt and opposition captain Younis Khan.Earlier, Australians struggled their way to only 198, but more importantly, they lost only 7 wickets and played full quota of 50 overs. Consistent partnerships between openers, then Michael Clarke with youngster Callum Ferguson made sure Australians eat up enough delivery so that they post some respectable target. Aussies had their eyes set on smallish 220 around score, and were satisfied with 198 that they put up finally on a slow Abu Dhabi pitch.Mini Scorecard : Australia vs Pakistan : 3rd ODI :-Australia (elected to bat) = 198/7 in 50 oversM Clarke 66, C Ferguson 41, Gul 3/38, Afridi 3/31.Pakistan (target = 199) = 171/10 in 47.1 oversS Butt 48, S Ahmed 40, S Mallik 30, M Clarke 3/15.Full Scorecard : Aus vs Pak : 3rd ODI : Abu Dhabi45 : 28 is now the ratio of Australia vs Pakistan one day internationals from 77 games with a tied and 3 no result games. This was the second time Australia beat Pakistan in UAE after losing all 4 games played before!
4th ODI : Bollinger & Clarke seal series for Australia.
Almost 28 year old, over 50 first class games ~ the very first time Doug Bollinger represented Australia, he looked confident. sadly, no wickets in first innings and only 2 in second in his debut test match against South Africa on home ground Sydney in January 2009, Bollinger lost selectors faith for a while. But, no matter how much you sweep a real talent under the carpet, it will come back again and again. 4 months later, Doug Bollinger, in his debut one day international, went wicketless once again but today, in his second game for his country in colored clothings, Bollinger bamboozled Pakistani batsman with his accurate left arm swing bowling on a hot & sandy afternoon in Abu Dhabi.Pakistani batters failed to form any partnership of authority and their run rate always stayed low. run a ball 40 from Shahid Afridi and late heroics from Yasir Arafat sent Pakistan close to double hundred mark but a target of 198 was never going to trouble the visitors.3 world cups in a row, Australians know how to seize initiative and also how to sustain it. They had a horrifying start with a golden duck for Brad Haddin and only 1 run for Marcus North on his debut (both falling to Shaoib Akhtar), Australians found an eager pair in Shane Watson and Michael Clarke. captaining his side for the 10th time, Michael Clarke seemed hungry to seal the series in this 4th one day international itself, and so he did with an unbeaten century off 122 balls. Shane Watson never looked comfortable, specially against Spinners but he played out 140 deliveries to remain unbeaten on 85 and saw his team home.Mini Scorecard : Aus v Pak : 4th ODI, Abu DhabiPakistan (elected to bat) = 197/10 in 48.4 oversA Shehzad 43, Misbah 34, S Afridi 40, Arafat 23*Doug Bollinger = 7.4-0-35-5, N Bracken = 10-1-31-2Australia (target = 198) = 200/2 in 44.2 oversMichael Clarke 100*, Shane Watson 85*, M North 1.Full Scorecard : Aus v Pak, 4th ODI : 1 May 20098th win from 10 games for Michael Clarke as captain of Australia in one day internationals. Clarke also scored his 4th ODI ton today, his second against Pakistan and in process, became the highest run scorer by an Australian captain against Pakistan in a bilateral ODI series!
Pakistan earn consolation : Australia win 'Chapal Cup' 3-2.

From last 26 games, this was Pakistan's only 6th victory against Australia. (19 lost, 1 no result).Overall, Pakistan now trails 28-44 vs Australia in one day internationals.Clearly, asian giants have had a not-so-impressive record against team from down under, but today, they won a pretty good game of cricket. Opposite to a low scoring (century-less) series on dead UAE pitches that it was, which Aussies had already sealed with 3-1 lead going into this final onedayer, batsmen from both teams batted freely today and entertained the crowd.Electing to bat, Australians were off to solid start with Brad Haddin taking chances and Shane Watson setting his eyes in. 58 run opening partnership was broken bY Shoaib Akhtar while Marcus North's wicket was claimed by Saeed Ajmal. Australia down to 83 for two wickets, in form captain Michael Clarke joined Watson and formed a another half century partnership in the middle overs. Watson completed his century, a rather slow one as per his nature, but his 3rd half century partnership, this time with Callum Fergusson, took Australia past 250 run mark.Chasing the biggest target of series, Pakistan were 2 wickets down for 46 and then 3 down at 56 run mark but then, Misbah-ul-Haq settled in to form 198 run partnership with Kamran Akmal who played all the shots in book and with lots of authority. Brining up his 5th ODI century, Kamran Akmal saw his team home with 18 balls to spare.116* = highest score : by a wicket keeper against Australia in one day internationals. Kareena Kapoor almost collapsed on the sets while shooting in Philadelphia because of exhaustion and the chilling cold. She has been taking in too much resently, poor darling. So Have decided to go on a a holiday in France in December. It will be only the two of them and no phone calls please. Good for the pretty babe, it is nice of her that she has at last found time for herself
Salman’s big Valentines Day plan for Katrina Kaif
Valentines Day is a month away but Salman Khan is already getting ready to shower an expensive gift on girlfriend Katrina Kaif.
Though there are rumors of a rift, things still don’t seem to be over for the two.
The buzz is that Salman has painted her many times while she’s been visiting the sets of his films and accompanying him on some of his mid-night adventures and has even rode an auto rickshaw with him.
Now Sallu’s big plan is to surprise her with a lavish Valentine’s Day gift.
He has chosen a plush apartment in Bandra and plans to gift it to her on Feb 14.
The flat’s location and its architecture go with Salman’s taste. He’s thinking of roping in Suzanne Roshan, ’s wife, to do the interiors.
The flat has a spacious living room space for paintings and portraits. It has two balconies overlooking the city in different directions. Apparently Salman wants to decorate the flat with some of his paintings before handing over the keys to Katrina next month.
Well, keeping in mind things like that, it seems all’s well in Sal-Kat’s paradise. So should we say, all the talks about Sallu being laid astray by Asin and the like are just rumors?

Has Kareena Kapoor broken up with Saif?
Post the success of ‘Jab We Met’, Kareena Kapoor has been all over the place.
Her relationship with Chotey Nawab Saif Ali Khan and the fact that they were seen joint at the hip at loads of places also made sure that it was so.
Shoots and social gatherings kept her in the news, but the movie for which she developed her size zero frame-’Tashan’ flopped badly.Only the Diwali release ‘Gomaal Returns’ made money but then the credit for the same doesn’t go to her fully.
After all, it was a multi-starer with a lot of boy bonding.
This sort of depressed the actress who thought that her career is going downhill and that’s why she’s decided to make her high profile relationship low profile now.
In the New Year she’s realized that being in the media glare all the time with is harming her.
So she’s decided to play it safe and is not breaking up completely. Instead she’s keeping her private life away from the media.
Well, it seems Kareena has realized what was needed to be realized. Let’s see if this strategy actually helps her out in the long run or not
Salman-SRK clash avoided at Preity Zinta’s party
Shah Rukh and Salman Khan had a big fight mid last year at Katrina Kaif’s birthday party which turned really dirty.
After much mud slinging, they have made it a point to avoid events where they might bump into each other.
Now both the big Khans were invited to Preity Zinta’s home for her birthday party on Saturday night.
Shah Rukh reached the party early and when Sallu heard about this, he decided to not attend PZ’s party.
He excused himself by saying that he was shooting but he wanted to avoid any unpleasantness by coming face-to-face with Shah Rukh.
An eye witness says, “Preity had invited Salman since they are good friends but he told Preity that he was shooting in Panvel for Main Aur Mrs Khanna and that he wouldn’t be able to make it. At Milind Deora’s reception, where both SRK and Sallu were present, it was easy to avoid each other as it was a big affair but Preity’s bash was an intimate gathering of about 20 close friends and it would have been impossible to avoid eye contact. Salman didn’t want an awkward situation again and opted out.”
There were many other interesting guests at Preity’s party like Akshay and Twinkle, Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jessia, Amrita Arora and her fiancĂ© Shakeel Ladhak, Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder, Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor, Chunky and Bhavna Pandey, Karan Johar, Riteish Deshmukh and Farhan Akhtar.
It was good that another big Khan fight and a huge tamasha was avoided right there.
But there were some other spicy sightings. Dino Morea came minus girlfriend Lara Dutta and was seen chatting merrily with ex-girlfriend Nandita Mahtani. Looks like Dino has forgotten how Lara had walked out in a huff when Nandita had sat on Dino’s lap and flirted with him at a party sometime ago.
Akshay Kumar made a quick exit after wishing Preity to catch an early morning flight to Delhi. Shah Rukh and Akshay didn’t chat with each other. Kinng Kumar’s hit machine status might be in trouble after his latest film proved to be a big dud, but there still seems to be some tension with King Khan.Must say B-Town events never fail to interest all and sundry
